Tip 67: Ikea Directions

So I put together 3 pieces of Ikea furniture today. In the dresser, I used this one piece of hardware extensively. It goes in a hole perpendicular to a screw you have inserted. You then twist it to hold two pieces at a right angle. In the next piece I assembled, the desk, I had to use many of that same kind of piece. The first time I was impressed by how intuitive and clever the piece was. In the second, however, they were nothing but trouble.

The directions about how to use them was different for the desk. They worked brilliantly in the dresser and terribly in the desk, so I guess I tried to fix something that ain't broke. So- yeah, don't do that. Ikea directions are ususally not THAT good anyway.
