Online gamer? In a long distance relationship? In a foreign country and miss Mom/Dad/siblings/friends/husband/wife? Well, Skype, is a free program that can help you keep in touch. Skype, available for WinAll, OSX, and Linux, is a VoIP client, meaning it allows you to essentially make telephone calls via the internet. Also, Skype supports video calls, which is great when you miss someone and want to see them as well as talk to them. Skype can also make and receive calls to landlines, but that costs money, while computer to computer calls and video calls are totally free.
Skype also supports multi-way (I think 10 people or something) phone conferencing. This is great for conference calls, particularly international conference calls, as well as for online games, though some prefer Ventrilo, which is specifically designed for this purpose.
